"Carl Fredricksen: I can't tell where we are.
Russell: Oh, we're in South America, all right. It was a cinch with my Wilderness Explorer GPS.
Carl Fredricksen: GP what?
Russell: My dad gave it to me; it shows exactly where we are on the planet!
With this baby, we'll never be lost!

Adventure is out there!

So I've made my new blog.  I KNOW, I KNOW! enough with the up...NEVER!  Anyways this will be my blog for when I am in Korea.  I just figured I would start it now.  The latest and greatest news is that I am now a college graduate from Arizona State University.  *hold for applause*  I am currently running around trying to see a bunch of people, and run a bunch or errands before I head to New York on a road trip with Steven.

So for my first super short post I will answer some of the questions I've been getting.

1.) How will you teach English if you got your degree in teaching History?
a.  I haven't completely figured that out yet but I will be mostly working to help students gain a break in their rigorous school day while also giving them contact with a native English speaker.  I am taking training in teaching English as a second language and I hope that my four years of learning to teach will help me just a little bit.  Though the subject is different, classroom management, lesson planning, feedback, ect.  are all things I am slightly familiar with.  So were going to hope for the best but I will hopefully learn quickly.  But I am struggling with passing my grammar tests, not going to lie.

2.)  So do you need to speak Korean?
a.  No.  I am going to try and learn as much as I can, but no I don't.  How will I teach? See above question/ I am going to have some training when I get to Korea.

3.) When do you leave?
a.  I leave AZ June 13th ish, and NY/USA on July 4th (I know, how un-American of me)
*all birthday presents can be given to me in advanced :P*

4.)  Where will you be staying?
a.  For the first weeks on training, Seoul.  After that I am not sure.  We get out teaching assignments after we arrive and go through training in Korea.  After that I will be staying with a family in a home stay.

5.)  Can I visit you? When are your breaks?  I am not going to Korea because I hate adventure and fun so when will you be back in the U.S.?
a.  Im not sure, probably.
-Again, I won't know when my breaks are until I know my teaching situation and location.  (all I know is that I will be with secondary students)
-Still not sure

6.) What will you eat?
a.  Im not sure, I've never had Korean food and I don't like-a da spicy.  soooo

7.) Are you nervous?
a.  Yes.  Honestly I'm always nervous when I leave a familiar place to go somewhere new, but so far its worked out and I've had some great times.  I traveled across the country for college and made some awesome friends (and also got a degree or whatever).  I studied abroad on a boat, went to amazing places, expanded my horizon, gained a sense of Wanderlust, and made even more new friends.  I backpacked through Southeast Asia  found independence and adventure (and made more friends).  And now I'm going to Korea (hopefully I make a friend).  Theres been some bumps sure, roommate issues, boyfriends dumping me on my birthday, getting lost, translation issues, ect.  but they have all helped me grow and have all helped me get to the place I am currently at.  So yes I'm nervous, but I'm also extremely excited!
